Singularity

Due to the exponential growth of computational power, machines will soon (next 50 years) become so powerful that a singularity point is reached. Roughly speaking, a singular point is one which is not well defined and predictions are not possible. At that point, computers and humans form a super intelligence. The human as we know him today, will not exist anymore.

The vision of Singularity was influenced by Ray Kurzwei, John von Neumann and Vernor Vinge. Book by Ray Kurzweil: The Singularity is Near [1]

The singularity paves the way for thinking about computers that are deeply integrated into the human, e.g. letting the human itself become an interactive surface.
