Instrumental interaction

Instrumental interaction [1] generalizes the principles of direct manipulation. It covers traditional WIMP interaction, as well as, numerous newer interaction techniques (e.g. tool-glasses, ar,...). It defines a design space of post-WIMP interaction techniques and a set of properties to compare them with each other. It is based on the notion of interaction instrument, which acts as a mediator between the user and the manipulated object.
